• Born in Knoxville in 1955; saved in 1962; joined an independent Baptist church in the city in 1965
• Called to preach in 1972; attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri from 1973-1976
• Married to Ann in 1975; still married to Ann; have two children who are single adults and who are faithfully serving the Lord through Antioch
• Taught at Temple Baptist Academy from 1976-1978; began attending Trinity Baptist College & Seminary in Knoxville in 1977; over the years, received a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree and, finally, a Doctor of Theology Degree from Trinity
• Began leading music for Antioch (then Trinity Baptist Temple) in August of 1977 under its founding pastor, Luther E. Adkins; later became Assistant Pastor of the church; worked under him for 7 years
• By recommendation of Pastor Adkins and vote of the congregation, became pastor of the church upon his death in 1985
