Tony Walker was born on November 9, 1983 in Anderson, SC. His childhood
rarely involved going to church. His family situation was unstable but
he had a mother who did the best she could.
On March 22, 1994 at the age of 10, his mother was murdered by his
step-dad. He was then taken in by a life long friend of his mother. She
and her husband was given custody of Tony and took him in as their own
son.
With the new addition to the family, they saw the need to raise Tony
in church. In 1995, they began attending Gethsemane Baptist Temple in
Starr, SC. In the winter of 1995/96, at the age of 12, Tony made a false
profession of faith to please his new parents but his life never change.
The journey into teenage years began and resulted in regrets and
disobedience to what he heard every Sunday and Wednesday at church.
Still, his "adopted" parents raised him in church so he could be brought
up under the word of God.
Then things changed in the spring of 2001 at the age of 17 when Tony
began to realize the things he was involved in were not only displeasing
to his parents and those who knew, but to God himself. In his room with
simple faith and a simple prayer he asked Jesus to save him. Something
happened that did not happen in 1995/96, his life changed!
He began to pay attention in church, read the Bible, witness, and try
to make his senior year of high school count for God. As high school
drew near to the end, questions about what to do after high school began
to come into his mind. In January of 2002 he attended an all men's
meeting at church and at the altar call told the Lord that he would
preach if that is what he wanted from him.
He preached his first message the next month, graduated in May of
2002, and began attending Tabernacle Baptist Bible College that August
where he is still enrolled. On July 30, 2005 he married his high school
sweetheart who is a great wife, friend, and help-meet.
Currently, he helps teach the children on Wednesday evenings. He also
preaches at nursing homes, every Saturday publicly on Main Street in
Anderson, SC and every Friday at 5:00 pm on WRIX-AM 1020. His website
contains his full testimony, various writings, and a downloadable MP3
archive of the radio sermons. It can be visited at
